KAREN PESEK

 

 

Biography

Karen Paola Pesek is a bilingual, entrepreneurial professional with a background in Public Accounting and nonprofit leadership. She and her husband own and operate PESEK LAW, LLC, where she is the Chief Financial Officer.

Karen is focused on serving the Spanish-speaking community in South Omaha. As co-owner of PESEK LAW, she advocates for the rights and dignity of injured Spanish speakers, especially those who are victims of negligence and regardless of their immigration status.

She also leads the firm’s community service initiatives, Pesek For Good. Through the True Potential Scholarship program, Pesek For Good has supported nearly 300 immigrant youth in attending college since 2013. Karen provides mentorship to first-generation college students and their families, helping them navigate the U.S. education system. Additionally, she organizes and manages the firm's Free Legal Clinic, which provides over 500 consultations to Spanish speakers in South Omaha every year.

Karen has a Public Accounting degree from Wayne State College and an associate’s degree from Central Community College in Columbus, Nebraska. In 2023, Karen earned the Outstanding Alumni award from the Nebraska Community College Association. Her bachelor’s degree in public accounting and associate’s degree from Central Community College are badges of honor that she wears proudly as she continues her advocacy for quality, affordable education for all.

Karen also serves on several nonprofit boards, including the Metropolitan Community College Foundation where she serves as the Finance Committee chair, Matters On Tomorrow, Urban Abbey where she serves in the Treasury committee, and on the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum board. Karen is also the Volunteer Coordinator at the South Omaha Business Improvement District.

Karen loves visiting her native Mexico at least once a year, playing board games, doing yoga, and hosting friends and family for dinner.
