We are honored to share that attorney Alejandra Ayotitla recently spoke at the Define American Banquet, where she shared her inspiring journey as a Dreamer and advocate for the immigrant community. Alejandra discussed her struggles and perseverance in accessing higher education, and how she was able to overcome obstacles in order to achieve her dreams.
During her speech, Alejandra highlighted the importance of resilience and owning one’s story, and encouraged other Dreamers to not let their immigration status define them or their aspirations. She also spoke about the unique challenges faced by immigrant students when it comes to education and professional opportunities, and emphasized the critical role of scholarships, allies, mentors, and advocates in supporting these individuals.
For Alejandra, the most memorable part of the experience was recognizing her family’s journey and the courage and support of her parents. She was also touched to hear from students at the end of the event who were inspired by her story.
We applaud Alejandra for her dedication and commitment to serving the immigrant community, and for sharing her story to empower and uplift others!
