Congratulations to our Director of Finance, Karen Pesek, for being recognized as an Outstanding Alumni at the Central Community College (CCC) 2022 Commencement Ceremony.

Karen began her college career at CCC in Columbus in 2003, earning her Business Associates Degree in 2005. Karen was recognized as a distinguished alumna for her professional achievements and community service, including founding the True Potential Scholarship, through which more than 150 immigrant students have been able to attend community colleges in Nebraska and Iowa. Karen believes that graduating from college with minimal debt is one of the best gifts a student can give themselves.

Karen had the opportunity to give the commencement speech at the ceremony that took place on Friday, May 13th in Columbus, NE. She says that the most wonderful thing was being able to see two True Potential students graduate that same day. Maria Espino Arevalo from Columbus received her diploma to continue her studies in Nursing and Roxana Galdamez, from Schuyler, received her Associate of Science Degree.
